Skydio has just concluded its Ascend 2023 event where it showed off its latest innovations, including the new Skydio X10 drone, improved Skydio Autonomy software, and several other updates.
Skydio X10
Skydio X10 builds on the learnings of Skydio’s previous drones and features a new camera system, a new modular payload system, and much needed generational updates. Alongside the X10, Skydio also launched the Skydio X10D, a defense version of the drone. All version are available in the United States and Australia.
Skydio X10 has a maximum flight speed of 45mph (72 kmph) and a maximum flight time of 40 minutes. Skydio says it can be deployed within 40 seconds and has an IP55 rating.
Skydio X10’s camera
X10 has two camera payload options to choose from, which can be switched out thanks to a modular design. VT300-Z(oom) and VT300-L(ight).
VT300-Z is a zoom and thermal payload, featuring a narrow and telephoto RGB sensor, and a thermal sensor. VT300-L is a 1-inch and thermal payload, with the same thermal and narrow sensors, complimented with a new 1″ RGB sensor and a flashlight for low light environments.

X10’s AI capabilities
Skydio X10 features an on-board NVIDIA Jetson Orin GPU allowing it to understand and navigate the surroundings in real-time. Skydio says the X10 features 10x more computing power than the X2 and features 10x more effective navigation pixels as the X2.
Skydio has also been able to allow the X10 to do everything it already does during the day, during the night. Granted the Visible/IR light Module is installed on the drone.
Skydio X10 payloads
The Skydio X10 features four attachment areas for additional payloads, as well as the ability to switch our the main VT300 payloads. X10 has a payload capacity of 12oz (340 grams) and currently supports the following modules:
- Spotlight
- Speaker and Mic
- Parachute
- RTK GPS
- NightSense Visible/IR Light
